Route 3 Map
Location of Route 3 in Kanto.

Route 3 is located between Pewter City and Mt. Moon, it is a route with a lot of trainers. The first time the player accesses this route, a scientist explains the hidden ability swarms.

When the player arrives, the Pokémon center is missing a nurse so you can't heal your Pokémon at first. The player has to talk to this nurse healing a Geodude, then, Brock will come help and replace the nurse. She will then be able to heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon center.

You will have to go through Mt. Moon to defeat team Rocket grunts.
