Location of Route 9 in Kanto.

This route has two distinctive biome, which offers different catch tables:

  • The first being a canyon, where several trainers and items are present, as well as two small patch of grass, which connects to the Cerulean City terminal.
  • The second being a stream bank, with a large patch of grass, and connects to Route 10 and Cerulean Cape.

To reach Cerulean Cape, the player needs both Surf and Waterfall (or their respective HM Replacement Items).
