Triple fusions are a special kind of fusion that is possible with specific legendary trios or fully-evolved starters of the same region. They have special types that combine the attributes of their three types. During the story, the player has to fight Zapmolticuno, a fusion between Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno that was created by Team Rocket. It is possible for the player to obtain up to 20 triple fusions in the late post-game using Colress's machine.
How to obtain[]
Triple fusions can only be obtained in the late post-game. To unlock triple fusions, you need to bring the Black Stone and White Stone to Colress at the Lake of Rage. This will allow you to catch Kyurem. After catching Kyurem, Colress can be found in Mt. Moon where Team Rocket's first attempted triple fusion.
To obtain a specific triple fusion, you then need to speak to Colress at Mt. Moon with the three required legendaries or fully-evolved starters in your party. He will clone the Pokémon and you will obtain an egg containing the triple fusion.
When fusing a starter trio, the egg will contain the unevolved triple form. Which can go through all the evolution stages.
*This can only be done once for each trio.

Unique Types[]
There are 27 types built in PIF. Aside from the 18 types from the official Pokémon games, 8 out of the remaining 9 types are unique types related to Triple Fusion, which are independently defined and treated as a single type in calculations.
Note: The Triple Bird Boss Zapmolticuno in storyline is not actually a Triple Fusion in the chart. Their weaknesses are the standard weaknesses of each of their individual types(Electric/Flying, Fire/Flying, and Ice/Flying). In comparison, the type of the Zapmolticuno that the player can obtain is [Ice/Electric/Fire]/Flying.
